Updates

Ana turned 2 on May 19th. We had a great day at the Lake and Mammy and Grandpa Billy came out for a visit, from CA. Ana is still getting the hang of her tricycle, but loves her Lego's and her first video (Veggie Tales).

We went camping a couple weeks ago. Josiah's first camping trip. Both Ana and Siah did great, so did mom. We camped right on the lake (Kerr Lake). Spectacular view. We did a lot of hiking, which was a lot of fun. Shiloh loved the lake.

Allegra turned 30!! Or at least we celebrated her 30th (she actually becomes 30 on June 25). Kami, Josh, Silas, James, Sonya, Heather, Marty, Taylor and Ethan all came up from NC and many spent the night and went to church on Sunday. We had a big party (about 40 people). Josh led us in a time of praise and we had a sweet time of praise.

I went to the SBC convention last week w/ our intern (John Chidester). It made me both proud and sad to be a Southern Baptist. Too much bureaucracy and praise of man. But really great efforts on Missions.

Speaking of missions I have been praying a lot on how God could guide DBBC to be more mission minded. I would really like to partner with a church doing frontier missions. I also am continuing to pray that God would lead us to adopt his model of church leadership: plurality of elders. Please pray for God's guidance.

And ... Let's see ... Of yeah ... Allegra is pregnant again. Well that is about it for the update. I love God.

How we must pray.

In Acts 6 the Apostles were unable to minister to the widows b/c they needed to pray. Implies that prayer is not something that can be done when washing dishes or waiting on tables or driving around town. There is a labor to prayer that calls for undivided attention and work. How I long to become a man who devotes himself to that labor. I must be made aware that all my ministry, all my proclamation of God's word, will wither and die without prayer. I must persevere.
